The Countdown

FOUR MORE DAYS . . . Tuesday morning I will wake up at 5 am to get on a plane that takes me to the other side of the world! I will walk out of a familiar culture, into an entirely new culture. First stop . . .Bangkok, Thailand. Our entire DTS school will be there together with our contacts from the target nations (Bangladesh, Nepal, and Indonesia) to go through the last of our training. Our school has been fortunate as this experience is a rare opportunity. After 10 days in Bangkok, it is off to Bangladesh for me!!
I am so excited for what lies ahead. God has really be strengthening our team. Our team unity has been amazing, and I really think God will use our team unity to break strongholds in the nation. Pray that we continue to reach new levels of unity. Our first few weeks we will be in the Chittagong Hilltracks. Although the nation is mostly Muslim, the Hilltrack tribes are predominately Buhdist. We will be teaching English lessons in their High Schools, spending time at Home of Love (an orphanage, www.HOLbangladesh.org) and simply interacting with the people. They are extremely excited for us. Pray for creative ways to bring the Gospel into our English lessons.
After those 2 weeks, I am not quite sure what is next. I will have access to email throughout my entire time in Bangladesh, so be sure to check for updates every now and then. I probably won't have opportunities to share pictures, but can share experiences.
Thanks again for the support. I really feel the prayers and appreciate your dillagence in that. My time here has already been more than I could have ever imagined. I have learned so much and really feel prepared to share what I have learned. I am grounded in my beliefs. I am not just a Christian because I grew up one or because I have had an experience with God. I am a Christian because these truths are true, whether I chose to believe them or not. I know what I believe, and why I believe it. (I know why I don't believe other religions as well.) So thank you all. Thank you for your support and encouragement . . . your prayers and your gifts . . . your love and your faith. I love you all and miss you. Happy Thanksgiving.... have a wonderful Holiday season. . . .We'll be in touch!!

WELCOME TO PA'IA. All this time I have been talking about this crazy little town I live in, and no one knows what I am talking about. This place is a cute little town, similar to New London, except add a lot more tourists, 3 Buhdist Temples, the man who tells you Jesus is the rock (and litterally believes Jesus is a crystal rock under the island), an old retired professional boxer who walks the streets all day practicing his punches and blowing kisses to every car or person that passes, a bunch of laid back surfers, and a group of ambitious YWAMers wanting to spread the love of Christ. What a fun mix!!

Our awesome guys treated us to an amazing night with chocolate, fruit and yogurt, a Bible reading, affirmations, and the Incredibles!! They even cleaned up for us...and I must say they clean up nice. THANKS GUYS!!  

This has been my quiet spot . . .my place to spend alone with God. BEAUTIFUL. It is called the peak. To the left is Pa'ia Bay. 

Our team threw a birthday party for Tillia (even though her birthday isn't until August...) and Wendy (the homeless mom and daughter you have been praying for!! thanks!) It was great to just have an hour of fun and let all cares fall away. Tillia loved musical chairs and the balloons. Wendy loved her purple Zondervan Bible and was excited to start reading it. It was just a great hour of just appreciating them and it really went well.

Prayer Updates 11/15

Greetings from the rainbow state!! In only 2 weeks from today, we leave for outreach!! Where did 3 months go?! Time went so fast. Thank you again for all your prayers and support. I have some old prayer requests in an separate link in the right hand margin -->>>>
They still apply if you want to keep praying.

I do have some new requests to pray for. Regarding my personal journey with God, please pray that I learn to take every thought captive and walk in complete obedience to God. Also, pray that I find a way to get home in March. I have been informed that ATA (one of the airlines I return home through) will be discontinuing flights into Denver, Colorado as of January 1st. Unfortunately, as of now, that leaves me stuck in Pheonix, Arizona. Please pray that this issue will be appropriately resolved. One last personal prayer request: please pray that I continue to develop and heart and compassionate love for the people of Bangladesh.

Regarding our outreach team, pray for team unity. Pray that we continue to strengthen friendships and walk in humility. Also, lift Samantha and Richard up in your prayers that God will provide for them financially as they still do not have all their outreach fees.

I miss you all at home. I keep you in my prayers and am so comforted by the emails, notes, and prayers you are sending my way. I love you!!

Hi Everyone, sorry it has been so long since I have updated my blog. I am enjoying my experience so much and continue to know that I am truly on the path God intended for me. At the same time, I do miss home. Please continue to keep my family in your prayers! I love you all so much!!  

Every month we have a theme Ohana (family) dinner. This month was 80s theme. It is obvious the Bangladesh ladies have some serious 80s style. Sam, Tik, Me, Christine, Kristin, Corrie, and Suzanne.

I love the beach!! There is no greater place to enjoy God's glory!! Here is Ashley in awe of the big waves. God is awesome!!

One morning as we were worshipping on the beach, God blessed us with the most amazing rainbow ever. This is definately the rainbow state and we see a lot of them, but this one was a full rainbow that even seemed to go deep into the ocean!  

About half our group rededicated their lives to God and went through baptism in the ocean. One got baptized for the first time!!
