Frequently asked questions regarding my return to Bangladesh:

1. Are you going back to Bangladesh with the same group?
I am returning with the same organization (YWAM), but will be working with a new group of people, some who I’ve already worked with during my first visit. Much of our time will be spent in Dhaka, the capitol city. However, we will also be traveling all around the nation.

2. What will you be doing?
Initially I will be joining the staff of a “Windows DTS” (an international Discipleship Training School) and will be supporting the students and school in anyway I can. I will be involved in their outreach experience and will also be making plans for a cross-nation prayer walk which will take place in November.

3. How long will you be there?
In my obedience to God, I plan to be there until He sends me away. I do currently have plans to return in the late-summer/early-fall of 2007.

4. Is it safe?

I am not going to guarantee that I will never be in danger as I work in Bangladesh, but, then again, is that ever a guarantee anywhere we are? Although dangers do exist, I am confident I am covered under the protection and guidance of our Great Shepard. I trust that He is in control. Most people are uncomfortable with my safety because they are unfamiliar with the culture. The fact that 83% of the population is Muslim scares us because we are mostly familiar with terrorism associated with the Islamic faith. During my three months in Bangladesh, I realized that the majority of the people are just trying to make a living to offer a better life for their children--just like in America. People who live with plans to intentionally hurt others make up a very small percentage of the population--just like in America. The culture and the people of the nation are incredible. These people are some of the most generous and loving people out there. They have so little, but will give so much. They put family and friends first, and I have already been blessed with a network of friends who will soon become my family away from home. One fair concern is the stability of the government. Please keep this in your prayers, especially as the election is coming up in October. Pray that God would influence the leaders of the nation.

5. Why go to Bangladesh when there is such a need right here in America?

Although I do agree that there is much opportunity to share God's love right here in our very own nation, state, and towns, I know that my personal call is to share God's love to a nation where only 0.5% proclaim the name of Jesus. Matthew 28:19 says, "Go and make disciples of all nations." God has blessed me with a heart for people on the other side of the world; He has equipped me to reach out to them. He has sent me to share His good news and declare freedom through His holy name to a nation who feels trapped and forgotten. God uses each of us to build His glorious kingdom, but we each play a unique role. Some of us are called to reach out to those in our own community and culture, and some of us are called to the other side of the world. My heart is to simply be obedient and trust in God's perfect plan.

6. Do you need financial support?
I am currently seeking supporters to both PRAY for me and contribute financially. Although I am still uncertain of the exact costs of living, I have been informed that I will need anywhere from $400 to $800 monthly.

7. How can I contribute?

8. How can I pray for you?
Pray for me, that God continues to show me the way, and that He gives me the strength to be obedient to that call. Pray that I would gain a supernatural understanding of the language and a mind to learn it. Pray for “divine appointments” with those ready to receive the love of Christ. Pray that I would walk in BOLDNESS as God leads me.
Pray for the nation, that they would understand the love of Christ. Pray against the stronghold of fear. Pray for knowledge of truth among the nation and that lies of the enemy would be replaced with foundations of God. Pray for the sick and the poor to find peace. Pray for the Christians to be renewed and refreshed.
