SAFE and Semi-Home in HAWAII

I am back in HAWAII, and it is so amazing to be here. I am still a bit jet-lagged and very low on sleep. As the plane left Bangladesh soil, I was flooded with such a strange mix of emotions. I was overlooking the land as it got smaller and smaller, and I felt like jumping out of the plane to go back. I missed it, yet at the same time I had been looking forward to seeing everyone back home. To overcome my missing Bangladesh emotions, I pulled out my pictures of family and friends hoping to be filled with excitedment. That plan backfired. I realized I still had 10 days before seeing you. All trip long I have been refusing to focus on how much I miss you guys, but now it's close enough to let those feelings flow. So I left Bangladesh in tears, missing two places so dear to my heart.

Now, I can't stop thinking about the three amazing months I had in Bangladesh, and it has been so much fun to hear the other team's stories of their crazy adventures. God worked more than we even realized or simply credit Him for. As I tell stories upon stories, I am reminded of how much God works through simple obedience, even in the smallest situations. Since we've returned, someone asked me, "How much of a difference do you really think we made?" Only God knows, and I am sure that He used us more than we will ever know. We have a lot of individual stories about healings and salvations, and that alone makes the time worth it, but I also feel that in general we brought hope and renewal to a nation lost in darkness.

The other teams have amazing stories as well and it has been so much fun to hear them. It has been SO GOOD to see and talk to Jes. She returned safe from Nepal, even though gun shots and bomb explosions were common background noise. Check out http://www.jessicadekker.blogspot.com/ to hear more about her experiences. Wow.

So, now I face the "next chapter", and I am excited to tell you that God has been speaking loudly and boldly to me about what is ahead. Although I am back from back from Bangladesh and most would say 'outreach' is over, God is showing me that it isn't. Outreach is never over, no matter where I am. So for the next 2-6 months I am excited to see how God will use me in Minnesota! I am SO excited that I get to be home close to family and friends again!! I am surely blessed. God has also shown me that He has plans for me to be back in Bangladesh again. As I seek God's heart in the timing of my return and the area of ministry, I ask for your continued prayers.

You all have been so faithful, and I know that my experience would never be the same without your prayers. I have seen the trials and felt the spiritual warfare of working on the mission field and can testify that without your support, I would come home completely broken and torn apart. Instead, I feel like I have been poured into just as much as I poured out. I seriously cannot express how thankful I have been for you. THANK YOU!!!! And I cannot wait to see you again face to face. I love you and miss you.
